2025 ABP College Scholarship Application

The Association of Bulgarian Professionals (ABP) is proud to present, for a fifth consecutive year, 5 scholarships in the amount of $1000 each for the 2025-2026 academic year.

25/26 ABP College Scholarship Application

A. Submission Requirements:

Scholarships will be awarded based on objective evaluation of the applicant who is currently a graduating high school or freshman/sophomore in undergraduate college/university. Criteria’s that will be considered are the applicant’s prior academic performance as well as demonstration of community involvement. 

  1. The applicant shall submit a written or video essay.

Essay or Video Topic: What inspired you to pursue your chosen field of study and select your educational institution? In what ways has your Bulgarian heritage influenced your educational path? How do you intend to apply your skills and opportunities to uplift the Bulgarian community through either mentorship, cultural preservation, economic development, and/or community engagement, etc.? Provide specific examples of how your academic journey and chosen field have or will equip you with the knowledge and skills to positively impact the Bulgarian community. 

  • Written essays shall be between 500-1000 words in length in Bulgarian or English.
  • Video content should be limited to less than 3 minutes.
  1. Applicants must submit the most recent or current school year transcript, including GPA, current school information, and classes enrolled in. 

  2. Applicants must submit a College/University acceptance letter (Applicable to High School Seniors only).

  3. Applicants are encouraged to submit most recent achievements, accomplishments, awards, and extracurricular activities which demonstrate dedication to education and community involvement.

  4. Reasons for disqualification: 
    • Failure to follow the stated requirements.
    • Failure to provide all of the above stated documents.
    • The use of Chat GPT or any other AI-related technologies.

B. Scholarship Rules:

  • High School Graduates: A graduating high school senior at the time of application and entering freshman year at an accredited college, university, or tech/trade school on a full-time basis for the entire 2025/2026 academic year.

  • College Freshman/Sophomores: A current college student at the time of application, entering the succeeding year at an accredited college, university, or tech/trade school on a full-time basis for the entire 2025/2026 academic year.

  • Applicants must be of Bulgarian descent which shall be defined as having at least one parent who is Bulgarian citizen. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. resident alien, or lawfully in the United States on a student visa. 

  • If selected for a scholarship, the applicant agrees and grants the exclusive right to ABP to use the applicant’s likeness, name, experience, and status in ABP communications, media, and other published materials. 

  • ABP reserves the exclusive right to change or cancel scholarship including the rules, dates, and criteria without advance notice for any reason.

  • By submitting an application, Applicant irrevocably agrees that all decisions and awards by the Scholarship Committee are final. ABP will not consider any appeals for any reason. 

  • Winners will be contacted by the end of May, 2025 and awarded at ABP scholarship award ceremony in June 2025.

  • Candidates agree that a generic bio of the applicant will be used for further fundraising campaigns, which will circulate through ABP’s social media channels or emails.

Criteria that will be considered are the applicant’s prior academic performance and demonstrated community involvement. The applicant shall submit a written or video essay.

  • Essay or Video Topic: Why is higher education important to you, and how do you envision contributing to the Bulgarian community? 
  • Written essays shall be between 500-1000 words in length in Bulgarian or English. 
  • Video: 3 – 5 minutes long and in a vertical 9:16 format.
  • Applicant’s most recent or current school year transcript, including GPA, current school information, and classes enrolled in.
  • Applicants College/University acceptance letter (Applicable to High School Seniors only).

Applicants are encouraged to submit the most recent achievements, accomplishments, awards, and extracurricular activities that demonstrate dedication to education and personal development.

The use of plagiarism, Chat GPT, or any AI-related technology is prohibited and will disqualify the application.

ABP reserves the exclusive right to change scholarship rules, dates, and criteria without advanced notice.

Applicant has the right to opt-out of the fundraising campaign but forfeits the right for any additional dollar amount over $1,000.
