Terms and Conditions for ABP Scholarship Applicants

Association of Bulgarian Professionals (ABP) Scholarship Program 2024-2025

The Association of Bulgarian Professionals (ABP) is delighted to offer three scholarships, each valued at $1000, for the academic year 2024-2025. This initiative marks our ongoing commitment for the fourth consecutive year to support education and community involvement among Bulgarian descent students.

Submission Requirements:

  • Eligibility: Open to graduating high school seniors who will be incoming freshmen in college or current college freshmen/sophomores.
  • Criteria: Selection is based on academic performance, community involvement, and the submission of a written or video essay on the topic: Why is higher education important to you and how do you envision contributing to the Bulgarian community?
    • Written Essay: Must be 500-1000 words in Bulgarian or English.
    • Video Essay: Should be 3-5 minutes, vertical format (9:16).
  • Additional Documents: Must include the most recent school transcript, a college/university acceptance letter (for high school seniors only), and evidence of achievements or extracurricular activities.
  • Originality: The use of plagiarism or AI-assistance, including ChatGPT, is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
  • Submission Deadline: Applications must be submitted by April 15th, 2024, to [email protected].

Scholarship Rules:

  1. Applicant Profile:

    • Must be a graduating high school senior entering college or a current college freshman/sophomore.
    • Applicants must be of Bulgarian descent and a U.S. citizen, resident alien, or legally in the U.S. on a student visa.
  2. Rights and Permissions: If awarded, applicants grant ABP the exclusive right to use their likeness, name, and other personal details for ABP communications and publications.

  3. Selection Process: The Scholarship Committee’s decisions are final and binding. Appeals will not be considered under any circumstances.

  4. Notification: Winners will be contacted by the end of May 2024 and officially awarded at the ABP award ceremony in the same month.

  5. Fundraising Participation: Winners’ biographies may be used in ABP’s fundraising campaigns, with the option for applicants to opt out. However, opting out restricts any additional funding beyond the $1,000 award.

Changes and Amendments: ABP reserves the right to modify these terms, including scholarship criteria and deadlines, without prior notice. By submitting an application, participants agree to these terms and conditions in full.
